Submit a multipage PDF of your professional portfolio of the 10…

Submit a multipage PDF of your professional portfolio of the 10 design works (your print-ready portfolio) and a web address to your website portfolio. Your multipage PDF will be approximately 15 20 pages in total. It should include a cover/ page, table of contents, print résumé, and your selection of 10 design works. Also, submit a Word document that includes the answers to the questions listed in critical element 3 (Project Case Study) below.

Specifically, the following critical elements must be addressed:

Ready-for-Print Portfolio

The ready-for-print portfolio should be logically organized to create  rhythm and narrative similar to your website portfolio, with well-designed layouts, good organization of elements, strong typography, and well-written annotations.
The ready-for-print portfolio must include at minimum the following sections: cover/page, table of contents, print résumé, and your selection of 10 design works.
Design Works
Include in the portfolio a comprehensive selection of 10 refined graphic design works that most strongly represent your design expertise. These works should be produced in a range of applications, exemplifying your professional design knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Categorize your portfolio design work in a logical order that creates w rhythm and narrative similar to your website portfolio. Your portfolio should exhibit a balance between variety and unity.
Each work should be titled and annotated to provide relevant context.
Project Case Study: For each design, series of designs, or project you intend to include in your Graphic Design Portfolio, you must provide detailed explanations of the purpose and effectiveness of each by briefly answering the following questions. Note that although the sum of this reflection will be detailed, you are expected to answer the six areas listed below thoughtfully, briefly, and succinctly in only a few sentences each.

Later in the course, in both your print-ready portfolio and your self-promotion website, you will be expected to include annotations for each of your 10 completed graphic design works. Your answers to these questions can provide the basis for those annotations.

Although your specific audience for this project case study is your instructor and your classmates, remember that this writing will have broader appeal if you write with one person in mind: a potential employer. Whether included as is or distilled into annotations, this writing will live within your portfolio and self-promotion website, seen primarily by those interested in your work for collaboration, employment, or both. As such, this assignment builds professional experience by asking you to think and write about your work in a way that helps potential employers understand the challenges, goals, and outcomes of the work. It also gets you in the habit of thinking and writing about your work critically, clearly, and succinctly.

Working Knowledge of Graphic Design Software and Digital Tools
Are your software and digital tool choices, techniques, and content creation/editing choices that are evident in the completion of this design, series of designs, or project technically appropriate? Does your work show an advanced working knowledge of graphic design software? Explain why or why not. Give examples.
Elements of Design
Did you employ the elements of design (line, color, shape, form, value, space, and texture) and the principles of design (contrast, balance, emphasis, movement, white space, proportion, hierarchy, repetition, rhythm, pattern, unity, and variety) in this design, series of designs, or project in ways that demonstrate skill and depth of knowledge? Explain why or why not. Give examples.
Creative Self Expression and Originality
Within your design process, did you explore and commit substantial time and effort to ideation and brainstorming techniques during the development phase(s) of this design, series of designs, or project? Do you feel these efforts toward creativity and originality are evident in the finished work? Is there evidence of knowledge and application of ethical guidelines? Please explain the ideation technique(s) used in developing this work.

With regard to this work specifically, do you feel you demonstrated thoughtful and appropriate critique skills when both receiving and giving feedback to others? This can apply to opportunities for critique in the work’s course of origin or within this course (GRA 491). Explain why or why not. Give examples.
Evidence of Following Directions
In the creation of this design, series of designs, or project, do you feel that you adhered to all given directions and assignment specifications? In reconsidering or reworking this work for inclusion in your portfolio, did you decide it was necessary to deviate from the original directions or change the intent of the work in any way? Please explain.
Craftsmanship and Attention to Detail
Do you see evidence in the final design, series of designs, or project of excellent craftsmanship and attention to detail in the presentation of this work? This includes all elements of its presentation, including clarity and resolution of image, accuracy of colors, understanding of an established grid and format, readability of typography, as well as conversion of the original file type into the appropriate deliverable for print and/or screen publication. Explain why or why not. Give examples.

Note that you must have 10 completed graphic design works (design, series of designs, or project) in your finished Graphic Design Portfolio. Also note that self-promotion pieces (your logo, business card, stationery, your website, etc.), although required, do not count toward your 10 works. They are supportive design, not your actual projects.
