Reflect on your post in Module One and what you thought made an organization successful. Compare that to what you have learned in this course and consider if your views might have changed.

>>>PROMPT address the following:

1. Have your parameters for identifying a high-performing or successful organization changed over the course? Why or why not?
2. As a leader, what are some performance factors and future trends you will consider for developing a high-performing team and organization?

My Module One Post

Identify an organization that you think is successful. What makes this organization successful? Identify at least two reasons to support your assertion.
The organization I selected that is successful is Starbucks; below will elucidate on why I believe they are successful.
– The only significant food and beverage chain to offer both full-time and part-time workers’ health benefits.
– Offering items with a calorie count of no more than 500 and no extra additives like high fructose corn syrup, artificial flavours, or colours.
– Using recycled paper and plastic and constructing a filter system at almost 1000 of its stores to reduce wastewater by 50%.
– Purchasing environmentally friendly cups, napkins, and other items in an effort to promote social welfare,
– Focuses on sourcing coffee from producers who respect the social, environmental, economic, and quality requirements and pay a premium to growers who adhere to traditional coffee farming practices and promote the preservation of forests.
– Starbucks’ publication of its international duty and Progress report displays its dedication to its social duty and focus on achieving tremendous success.

Additionally, Starbucks emphasizes being socially responsible, and its mission statement is prominently displayed in many of its stores. According to several market analysts, ethical and diverse procurement, environmental consciousness, and customer wellness are the primary means by which Starbucks fulfils its social responsibility. They believe in establishing a brand’s reputation based on its social values and assisting the organization in leveraging its business and consumer base to achieve its economic goals.

Starbucks has not stopped its social and welfare programs in recent times as management continues to bet on expanding its horizon on social welfare and has engaged with the University of Arizona to support the cheaper education for their employees and the status quo is not sufficient enough to leverage its brand image among society and people who work for Starbucks as the company believes the customers and people of the company are the key success factors for a long term business.

An organization’s philosophy defines its mission, vision, and fundamental KRAs (Key Responsibility Areas). As a result, execution costs and operational effectiveness would be influenced both directly and indirectly. This is because the overall products and services cost mechanism for the appropriate target group is determined based on the underlying functioning principles. The entity’s philosophy rules regulate the broad range of offerings and the ingredients associated with them, as well as factors linked to logistics / supply chain and other sales and marketing channels.

Starbucks tries to fulfil its environmental and social duties, according to its policy requirements. This is evident from its social impact focus, which includes indicators related to ethical sourcing, the environment, and the community. In ethical sourcing, for example, the emphasis is on having a diverse selection of suppliers based on the supplier diversity program. Furthermore, in the context of the provision of manufactured goods, it conforms to high-quality requirements. It is committed to improving working and environmental circumstances in accordance with the ‘Global Social Compliance Program’ in order to establish a robust supply chain structure. To evolve and respond to essential changes, all business divisions and related activities are integrated for environmental improvement. The emphasis is on energy and water saving, as well as waste reduction and recycling. Community development actions are also done to establish affluent societies, such as the establishment of opportunities for various groups of people such as youth, veterans, and refugees.

In order to achieve long-term growth and success in all areas, investments must be carefully planned. The activities must be focused on core strengths and well-planned diversification in order to maintain and improve financial resilience. Aside from the social backdrop, investments should be made in people’s development, and infrastructure, and provide segment-specific possibilities and advantages. From an environmental standpoint, the focus of investment should be on making processes, goods, and subproducts more environmentally friendly. Greener initiatives in all aspects would provide better returns in the long run, benefiting both the entity and society as a whole.

In addition to finance, what other metrics or parameters do you regard as important for an organization to be successful?

From a financial perspective, I believe the corporation could invest more in the infrastructure of its stores, as well as in the R&D department. It should also look into new markets and try to fully investigate them. Starbucks will benefit from this in the long run.

When it comes to the environment, the corporation should pay attention to the various aspects and situations under which it operates and then take the appropriate steps. It is essential to devote some time and energy to the environment and its conservation.

In social investment, the corporation should prioritize the society in which it operates and so work on it. Child welfare, student and elderly programs, and a variety of other relevant activities should all be considered.

All of these factors will benefit the firm and propel it to the next level, with more customers, profit, and approach.
