Hi, this question related to business application of analytics
Q: How to create the 1 persona, 2 user stories and acceptance criteria of those 2 user stories of NOMAD CHIEF DATA OFFICER.

Thank you.

The profile of Chief Data Officer will include below

Name: Youssef Hakko
Location: Sydney

Age: 37

About the role: Youssef is responsible for ensuring that the technology for the data platform is delivered in a robust, cost effective, secure, and ethical manner. He has a strong interest in machine learning and artificial intelligence and would like to consider predictive analytics in the platform. He will oversee the solution and oversees approving the financial aspect of the project and providing mitigation plans around risks that may arise. He has included data driven decision making as part of his data strategy and wants to deliver this as part of his vision for technology for NOMAD in 2023.

Interview note:

– As the chief data officer, he is responsible for the delivery of a data platform that supports data driven decision making. He joined the organisation in response to a job advert which stated that NOMAD was keen to consolidate disparate systems and was willing to invest in cloud technologies to achieve this. This is something he has a keen interest about.

– Youssef’s primary task is to consolidate data from multiple systems and migrate to the cloud. He has started collating the data into a single system (which you will receive the export for in Assignment 03).

– Youssef’s comments during the interview: “I would love to apply statistical models to the data to help the business forecast their demand. This will help them move away from ‘gut’ feelings and will give them the ability to compare their manual forecasts with computer automated ones.

Company profile:

NOMAD is a boutique car rental firm established in 2019 and based in Melbourne that has approximately 50 cars (and is growing rapidly). They service several verticals within the car rental space including

– Wedding Hires

– Long Term Hires (vehicles hired for over one month)

– Short Term Hires

NOMAD’s client base is mix of both loyal repeat customers and new customers. Their customer base consists of overseas customers looking to travel through Melbourne and Australia, and other customers such as interstate travellers, local customers and insurance companies. NOMAD has grown rapidly in the last 2 years and like any growing business has seen new challenges that they need addressing.

Some of the challenges that the business has faced in its growth are as follows:

– Understanding the mix of their customer base and their preferred services is challenging causing sub optimal utilisation of their marketing spend.

– Poor demand planning. Without clear line of sight to their past sales it is hard for them to understand future demand for vehicles.

– Sunsetting of fleet vehicles is done on ‘gut’ feel. Due to the lack of data on vehicle maintenance vehicles are extended beyond their optimal driving period (causing issues with customer satisfaction due to breakdowns) or decommissioned too early.
