The whole story around them is the superpowers they have. It seems now that most heroes fly, have super strength or super speed. All these superpowers are recycled, there has been other heroes with these same superpowers such as Superman, Wonder woman and Flash. Another recycled theme is that they combat evil and save lives. At the end of the day, they are always the ones that save the day.Why do these recycled themes exist so often in these stories? These recycled themes exist so often in these stories because we all like a hero. A good hero is what sells therefore why change the story when creators see money coming in through other past hero stories. The smart thing is for the creators of the heroes to try and resemble past stories. For example, everyone has heard of Cinderella, well years later an updated version of Cinderella was created,”Most people are familiar with the gist of the ‘Cinderella’ story. But Gail Carson Levine, the author of Ella Enchanted, wondered just what made Cinderella so good to the point that she would put up with such horrible treatment? To answer her question, she wrote her own version of the ‘Cinderella’ story There are several important ways in which Ella Enchanted differs from ‘Cinderella.’ The two stories were written in two different eras after all, with the Grimms’ ‘Cinderella’ published about 200 years before Ella Enchanted. Considering that Ella Enchanted is a 21st-century young adult novel that appeals mainly to young women, think about how that audience is different from the audience that would have read the Grimms’ ‘Cinderella’ in 19th-century Europe” (How Fiction Draws on Themes from Other Works, 2014). The stories about superheroes have always followed popular culture. They based the superheroes 30 years ago with what was popular at the time, and they still base the superheroes now onto what is popular. The creators of theses heroes must follow popularity to become profitable and popular among the kids. It is just the way it works, and I believe it will always work this way. Monomyth hero’s journey will always be battling evil or overcoming the hero’s own personal distress. It has always been based on this. What “recycled themes” are apparent in fictional or mythical hero stories?
