1. I believe Susan should have selected a few employees who she felt was capable of doing the report and gather them all to ask who would be willing to do the report for her, I think she should have explained her situation and this could be an opportunity for the variety of work she was speaking about. I think this would have been the correct move because though George was her first pick, he didn’t seem to want to do the report to several reasons one being he felt it was her job and two he probably had more responsibilities Susan wasn’t aware of which in reality made him not appreciate the variety the way she expected him to. I think the idea of gathering a few employees would give them a choice and it would show who is willing to add to their workload temporarily, since Susan already prepared most of the work already it shouldn’t have been hard to check the work presented to her as she’s already prepared for it to be done by another person extensively.

2. I think since Susan has already given the job to George and was met with nonchalance when mentioning a due date she should get the report back and try to give it to someone else. The fact that she already knows how George feels about doing the project should tell her it would be better for her in the long run and if she wants the report done on time to assign it to someone else. It should be easier for Susan to choose someone else because she has outlined everything that needs to be done so extensively. Another thing she can do is talk to George about why she chose him to do the report and what she has been dealing with since the expansion of the hospital, for George to understand why he was asked to do the report in the first place.

1. Some actions Susan may have done incorrectly was first not informing George about the increase in her workload and explain to him why she picked him and talked about his skills. That way George would’ve been straight up said yes he can do the job or no that she would need to find someone else since he’s reluctant to do the work. Also she didn’t inform him about the time limitation to hand in the work material needed for the report.

2. Susan can arrange to have a meeting with George and talk about the issue of overhearing him complaining to a coworker about the workload that she gave him. Susan can let George know that if he has any issues that he can come to her and let her know in person or over e-mail. Also Susan has to let George know that she would appreciate it if he brought his issues to her instead of hearing it in the hallways at work. Airing issues to a boss is a crucial especially if you’re having a hard time completing the work assigned to you.
