In your replies, select at least two peers’ posts that sparked your interest, and get a conversation started. If you need some ideas, you may ask, “Do you have any big projects or career goals in mind?” “What does your day-to-day look like?” “Any advice you can share from your lessons learned?” These are just some examples of conversation starters; you may have alternative questions that will help you connect with colleagues.

1) Hello,

My name is Luisa, I go by Lulu. I am currently living in Columbus, OH as a construction administrator (C.A.) for a masonry company. I have been in the construction industry for a little over 8 years. I just switched companies this year as I was traveling a lot for work with my previous company that was tunneling focused and having a son (6) starting elementary school, I didn’t want to keep moving him around every 2 years as he starts to make those lifelong friends!

As a C.A., I am in charge of reading through contracts before they are signed, setting up projects once the contract is executed, tracking waivers, documents, payments as the project progresses, and closing out the project as they finish. I manage around 15 projects at a time, with all of them at different phases of completion while I am wrapping up my last 2 terms here at SNHU for my bachelors in Business with a focus in project management. Some of my professional goals are within the construction industry and I do want to continue to do work on the corporate side in terms of operations and controller. I am a Construction Documents Technologist (CDT), Agile Project Management certified, and Blueprint certified . My current company continues to grow and expand, so I hope to manage an entire location in the near future as we are expanding out of Ohio into other states.

I look forward to meeting everyone!

2) Hi Classmates,

Audi is my first name, so I prefer to call me Audi. My current professional role is the Drill Sergeant in the U.S. Army. I have been in the Army for over 12 years and have been a Drill Sergeant for about 2 years. My roles are coaching, mentoring, leading, teaching, and training new troops to become Soldiers. My job is super rewarding when I see Soldiers graduating with a big smile. Also, when I see their family members that is so proud of what these young troops have accomplished. Yes, long hours, hardship days, and sweat in tears sometimes have pushed me close to my limit.

Fortunately, I treat this role as the motivation and challenge I am immensely proud to do. Being a Drill Sergeant is one of the best jobs I have ever had in my military career. My short-term goal is to finish Bachelor Degree by the end of 2024. My long-term goal is to retire from the military.

Best of luck,
