Choose the right leaders for growth ….

build the profile for the person you want to lead your growth initiative. Think of this subsection as your leader wish list. You will consider leadership needs to support the growth initiatives you have identified. we ask that you consider what you have learned from leadership competencies And leadership roles(coaches, mentors, sponsors), Among other concepts, to develop a profile for your growth initiatives leader. Keep in mind that the organization will need a way to measure or assess these profile characteristics so try to be as concrete as possible. Be explicit. 

Leadership styles:

Directive:

Leader: Defines, goals, standards, Processes. Explains what to do on how to do it. Supervises and holds others accountable.

Useful when: the follower is blocked for making progress because they lack knowledge or skills to complete the task.

 

Supportive:

Leader: Provides tangible and emotional support. Creates positive work environment, concerned about followers well-being.

Useful when: the task or the relationships in his followers’ work environment increases anxiety or distress.

 

Participative:

Leader: includes followers in key decisions.

Useful when: the follower has enough knowledge and commitment to have their preferences.

 

Achievement-oriented:

Leader: sets challenging goals and new levels of performance. Tells the followers what to achieve but not how.

Useful when: the followers cognitively and emotionally capable of task. 

 

Transformational leadership

Idealized influence:  walk the talk. Leaders act as a role model for their followers. The leader embodies the way they want the team and organization to be.
Inspirational motivation: Leader crafts a vision with purpose and appeal Beyond economic exchange. Broader meaning in the work meant to inspire people and make it part of their identity.
Individualized consideration: leaders develop their followers and showed them potential for growth through the journey. Each followers’ roles and characteristics (customized)
Intellectual stimulation: leaders energizes followers to make the vision real by offering their ideas and creativity. Challenges people to reimagine the status quo.
