Then in the first six months of 2020, spurred by widespread business closures and shelter-in-place orders mandated by governments to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic that greatly increased the time many families spent at home, Netflix added a record number of new paid subscribers. To counter the now-stronger competition from an assortment of new streamed entertainment providers, Netflix was continuing to increase its releases of new original content and strengthen its marketing efforts to grow its user base in high-opportunity country markets. How strong are the competitive forces in the rapidly evolving global market for streamed video content? What is Netflix’s strategy? What type of competitive advantage is Netflix trying to achieve?Thinking about global strategy and competition, what recommendations would you make to Netflix management2/ The forces that are after Netflix are strong. They are now the old-school ways of watching TV shows that are joining in on the action. They have the money that Netflix might not have and they have all of the old shows that people love to rewatch like Friends or Seinfeld. They are stronger every day with some networks having exclusive content like the hit show Yellowstone, which had record numbers and gave Peacock a great standing and more viewers than ever.  Now how does Netflix battle this? They battle this fight with something that the other sources do not have, a mainstream way of getting comedians a special. That is what their sub-content, Netflix is a Joke is all about. They cornered the comedy game and have many mainstream comedians like Tom Segura, Joe Rogan, Ali Wang, Dave Chappelle, and many others. They have this market by giving these comedians the chance to have the special out to everybody and gives them a competitive market that Peacock and Hulu do not have. The thing that I would say to Netflix next is to start on something that will catch everybody off guard. That might be a new show or something that will get people to rewatch an old series to see the new series again. I think that the thing that I find lacking with Netflix is that they have some shows set for only certain countries. Why not let everybody see their whole catalog or have options for a few more dollars a month to be able to see them all again? BusinessBusiness – Other
