Describe the importance of ensuring the unit of analysis aligns with the doctoral research purpose.
“The unit of analysis is a central piece in any methodology” (Damsa & Jornet, 2021, p.1). A The ensuring of the unit of analysis is critical for various reasons. The unit of analysis can assist in the determination at what level data will be obtained, stored, and analyzed, which can directly affect the applicability of the overall findings from the research. It is equally importance to select the unit of analysis that aligns with the study to allow for a more in-depth focus and exploration of the research topic.
Explain the broader implications of selecting the incorrect unit of analysis on the practice to business.
If an incorrect unit of analysis is selected, that can have a wider option of implications. If the unit of analysis cannot capture the phenomenon, the data obtained may not be useable or applicable to the business problem or situation. Ultimately this can provide a throttle or limitation to the usefulness of the research. It is critical that the consideration in selection is needed to ensure that data and outcomes can be implemented into a business context.
Analyze the relationship between sample size for the chosen unit of analysis and statistical power.
The relationship is dependent on the selected unit of analysis. The sizes of the sample, large or small can increase the statistical power and allow for more defined detection of relationships or variable differences. It is crucial to find the balance between gaining a large sample to gain decent statistical power and consider limitations such as resources and amount of time allocated.
Justify how and why the unit of analysis for you proposed quantitative study is appropriate for your research question.
The selection is appropriate based on a few different factors. One factor to consider and explore is the accessibility to data. Obtaining data is practical and can be obtained through interviews, evaluations, and surveys. This allows for an assessment from business leaders related to employee turnover. Another factor is the possibility for targeted interventions. By focusing on leaders, the study and data collected can identify specific areas within the organization that may be lacking additional strategies that may be able to improve their goal regarding employee “turnover” (Self et al., 2022, p. 107).
